FAQs
How does online therapy work?
I use Simple Practice for my online counseling platform that provides HIPPA-secure video, audio, and messaging options. After you book an appointment, I will email a private link to connect by video during your scheduled appointment. Simple Practice is also available on an app so you can use your tablet or smartphone to connect when you download the app and sign in. You will need internet connection (with enough bandwidth to support a video conference call), a computer, tablet, or smartphone, and aa well-lit and private space with no distractions.
What is your approach to therapy?
I pull from a variety evidence-based techniques and strategies that include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBT, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). These interventions have been shown to help with a variety of mental health challenges. Using my clinical judgment and depending on your unique needs, I utilize interventions that you will benefit from as part of your treatment plan.
How long will I stay in therapy?
I don’t believe therapy is a long-term approach because our time together is focused on teaching you strategies and skills to help you successfully cope and manage your challenges. Therapy does not have a set time length because people learn at different rates and some have more to learn than others. It may be a 4-6 weeks and for others, it may be a 3-6 months before termination from therapy is appropriate. One of my goals as your therapist is to help you graduate successfully from treatment.
What if it's after hours or I'm in crisis and need immediate help?
If it’s after hours and you are not in crisis, you can call and leave a voicemail at 949-441-CARE or send a message through your client portal. I will contact you within 24 hours (usually sooner) during my office hours. As a solo therapist, my practice does not support those who need crisis services. I will not be a good fit for you if you need this level of care. If you are in crisis, please go to your local emergency room or call the Crisis Line at 800-576-7764 for help and resources.
What are your office hours and holiday schedule?
My working hours are Monday through Friday starting at 8 am – 5 pm PST. I will not be in the office on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day and the day after; Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Eve. You will receive at least a 2 week notice when I have a planned vacation.
